At Jani-King, we believe that doing the right thing isn’t just good business — it’s the only way to do business. That’s why, even though we’re not legally required to report under the Australian Modern Slavery Act, we’ve voluntarily submitted our Modern Slavery Statement to the Australian Attorney-General’s Department. Because when it comes to protecting people — our staff, franchisees, contractors, and their teams — there’s no room for compromise.

Why We Chose to Report Voluntarily
Modern slavery can take many forms — from unfair wages and excessive work hours to more severe practices like forced labour or deceptive recruitment. While we are confident that the risk across our business is low, we don’t leave that to chance.Â
We voluntarily submit this statement to hold ourselves to account and lead by example. It’s a promise that we will never turn a blind eye, and a reminder that we’re committed to creating safe, fair and respectful workplaces across Australia.Â
People First, Always
Our people are the heart of our business. From our commercial cleaning franchisees to the employees supporting operations nationwide, everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and fairly treated.Â
That’s why we provide training and support to ensure every worker knows their rights, understands the law, and has access to help if something doesn’t feel right. We have dedicated policies, a confidential grievance process, and a 24/7 employee hotline to ensure concerns are heard and addressed quickly.
What We’re Doing to Protect Against Modern Slavery
We’ve implemented clear safeguards to prevent exploitation, including:
- Strict recruitment and onboarding processes — including ID checks, right-to-work verifications, and police clearances.
- No tolerance for underpayment, cash wages, or excessive work hours.
- Franchisees are supported with training to understand and uphold employment standards.
- All staff, franchisees and contractors must agree to our Ethical Sourcing Code of Conduct.
- Regular audits by external workplace compliance specialists to identify and address risks.
Beyond Our Team: Setting Standards Across Our Supply Chain
Modern slavery risks don’t stop at the workplace. That’s why we also require our contractors, service partners and major suppliers to meet our ethical sourcing and workplace compliance standards.Â
We favour Australian suppliers where possible, conduct due diligence on partners, and ensure that anyone connected to Jani-King is aligned with our values.Â
This Is Just the Beginning
Modern slavery is a global issue — and our response must be ongoing. We regularly review our controls and processes through audits, supplier reviews, and direct feedback from workers and franchisees. It’s about staying vigilant, proactive, and committed.Â
By voluntarily submitting our Modern Slavery Statement, we’re not just ticking a box — we’re reaffirming our core belief: that everyone deserves to be treated fairly and with dignity.
Because at Jani-King, you’re in good hands.
